Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
Nose Fillers: Pros & Cons

Antalya Rhinoplasty - Nose Aesthetics

As a nose filler is not a surgical procedure, it does not resolve issues such as breathing difficulties or a deviated nasal septum. If only minor adjustments to the nasal structure are required, a nose filler may be used, subject to its various advantages and disadvantages.

 Nose fillers: Pros & Cons

The Pros of Nose fillers

  • Nose fillers are non-surgical. There is no pain from stitches or incisions.
  • The procedure helps individuals considering cosmetic surgery to get an idea of what the results might look like.
  • Results are achieved quickly.
  • It is a procedure with minimal discomfort.
  • It is performed in a short time.
  • You can return to your daily routine immediately after the procedure.
  • Even if you are not satisfied with the results, there is the option to reverse the procedure. With certain types of filler, it is possible to eliminate its effects more quickly using dissolving agents. The filler may take 6–18 months to dissolve naturally.
  • Volume is added to the nose to reshape it. No reduction of nasal tissue is performed.

The Cons of Nose fillers

  • The filler procedure is intended solely to correct certain aesthetic imperfections.
  • As the procedure is not permanent, it must be repeated.
  • Because this is not a rhinoplasty procedure, it does not correct breathing difficulties or structural abnormalities in the nose.
  • Complications may arise if the procedure is performed by non-specialists, such as infections, improper placement of materials, or unsatisfactory aesthetic results.

What can be achieved with a nose filler?

A nasal bridge can be concealed using dermal fillers. The tip of the nose can be lifted, asymmetries corrected, and the nasal bridge or dorsum reshaped. Fillers can camouflage minor deformities. The procedure is performed on both the upper and lower sections of the nasal bridge. The prominent appearance of the bridge is eliminated. The profile is improved. In patients with a drooping nasal tip, applying filler to the tip area can create a more lifted and aesthetically pleasing nasal tip. Minor irregularities or depressions visible on the nose can be balanced out with filler. An asymmetrical appearance can be transformed into a symmetrical one.

Depressions on the nasal bridge can be filled to create a smooth nasal bridge. Nasal fillers can be used to camouflage minor deformities resulting from previous rhinoplasty.

What is the purpose of a nose filler?

Nose fillers are a cosmetic procedure that allows the shape of the nose to be temporarily corrected using fillers, such as hyaluronic acid, without the need for surgery. Nose fillers can be used to add volume to the nose, correct asymmetry and conceal the nasal bridge.

Is nose filler safe?

Nose fillers are generally safe when performed by a qualified professional. This non-surgical procedure can reshape and enhance the nose with minimal downtime, but proper assessment and technique are essential to avoid risks.

The benefits of a nose filler

  • Correction of humps and curvature
  • Nasal tip elevation
  • Correction of asymmetry
  • Reversibility
  • Ability to perform post-rhinoplasty touch-ups
  • Non-surgical, suture-free results
  • Immediate return to daily life
  • Short procedure duration, quick application
  • Natural-looking results
  • Rapid recovery

Nose fillers side effects

  • Temporary side effects may occur following a nose filler treatment. This may include redness, swelling and bruising. These symptoms usually subside within a few days.
  • In rare cases, an allergic reaction to the filler material may develop. This may cause itching and tenderness.
  • If the filler is not administered by an ENT specialist, it may shift position. This can lead to asymmetry in the nose.
  • Nose filler material administered by non-specialists can lead to vascular occlusion as the most serious complication. This condition is a very serious complication.
  • Non-professionals may inject filler into a blood vessel. This can affect blood circulation and cause tissue damage.
  • There is a risk of infection with nose fillers performed in a non-sterile environment.

Does nose filler migrate?

Nose filler migration is rare when performed correctly. Skilled practitioners place fillers precisely to maintain shape and prevent movement, ensuring natural and stable results.

What can you do with nose fillers?

Nose fillers do not correct structural defects or breathing problems; they merely enhance the aesthetic appearance.

They help to improve the shape of the nose, conceal the bridge, and correct asymmetry. They add volume to the nose.

How long does it take for a nose to look normal after fillers?

Redness and swelling may occur for the first two days following a nose filler treatment. It takes approximately 3–4 days for the swelling to subside and the nose to settle into its new shape. A follow-up appointment is usually scheduled for the second week after the treatment.

How long does nose filler last?

The results of the procedure last for 6 to 18 months, depending on the body’s ability to absorb the filler.

Once the filler has dissolved, the procedure can be repeated if desired.

Who can't have nose fillers?

Nose fillers are not recommended for people with significant structural abnormalities in the nose, a deviated septum or breathing difficulties. Such individuals should undergo rhinoplasty. Furthermore, nose fillers are not recommended for pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers. For those with an active infection, the procedure should be postponed until it has cleared.

Who is a good candidate for nose filler?

  • Those seeking minor adjustments to the shape of their nose,
  • Those curious about how they will look after rhinoplasty,
  • Those in good general health,
  • Those with a prominent nasal bridge,
  • Those with nasal asymmetry,
  • Those who require only a cosmetic procedure but do not wish to undergo surgery are suitable candidates for nasal fillers.

Nose filler aftercare

  • Do not touch your nose for the first 24 hours after the procedure,
  • Do not wear glasses for at least one week,
  • Avoid environments with extreme heat, such as saunas or Turkish baths, particularly for the first 3 days,
  • Apply cold compresses to reduce swelling and bruising,
  • Keep your head elevated,
  • Avoid vigorous massage or harsh manipulation for one month following the procedure,
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and physical activity throughout the recovery period,
  • Temporarily stop consuming coffee, alcohol and caffeine,
  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight,
  • Attend the scheduled follow-up appointment after the filler treatment; these are the key points to bear in mind following a nose filler procedure.

Is nose filler permanent?

Nose fillers are not permanent. They use temporary dermal fillers that typically last 6–18 months, after which the effects gradually fade, allowing for adjustments or repeat treatments.

What happens after nose fillers dissolve?

Nose fillers add volume to the nose. They do not permanently alter the shape of the nose. If a nose filler is administered to lift the tip of the nose, the nose will return to its original shape once the filler has dissolved. This may appear as though the nose has ‘dropped’. In reality, however, it is not a ‘dropping’ but a return to the original appearance.
